‘With vegetables and fruit we grow healthy and cute’ is the name of an eTwinning project between St. Theresa College, St. Venera Primary and Szkola Podsatawowa Nr 5 in Radlin Poland. In this project children from both schools are sharing healthy recipes so as to promote healthy eating. On a regular basis the children prepare simple healthy snacks. With the aid of this project the pupils are becoming aware of the variety of healthy snacks that they can prepare themselves which can replace the usual junk food. When a cooking activity takes place photos are taken and then they are uploaded in the wiki: www.doriannespagnol.wikispaces.com for our friends and family too see.
The children are happy to be part of this project and they like the fact that
they have foreign friends. In fact during Christmas time the children exchanged Christmas cards and crafts and traditional food by post. Our Polish friends sent us apple chips and decorative rice paper and we sent them a small honey ring and two packets of ‘galletti’. For Easter we did the same thing. Once again the children exchanged Easter cards and Easter related crafts. We sent them a ‘figolla’ and they sent us healthy chocolates with yoghurt filling.
As an experienced eTwinner, Ms. Dorianne Farrugia would like to truly encourage teachers who have never tried eTwinning to pluck up the courage and try. She views eTwinning as wonderful experience to share teaching methods with a foreigner. It gives teaching and learning a whole new dimension and it is as fun for the children as it is for the teacher!
