Happy Christmas and A Prosperous New eTwinning Year to Everyone!

The eTwinning National Support Service would like to wish all eTwinners, in Malta and abroad, a very, very Merry Christmas and a fantastic new year ahead!

For those teachers who are thinking about joining eTwinning in the new year 2013, this is a short overview of the activities planned in January-Feburary-March.  These activities will be confirmed via a letter circular on January 7th.

  1. New Registrations, and Register a Friend Competition:  Similar to the competition launched in October-November, this time it will take into consideration all eTwinning registrations on the Portal (http://www.etwinning.net) happening from the 1st of January till the 15th of February 2013. Teachers who register during this time frame will receive a USB hub, and teacher-referents (who recommend their friends register to eTwinning)  will also receive a USB hub. There will also be a lottery with the chance to win a digital photo camera.
  2. eTwinning New Project Registrations:  Once again, this initiative is similar to the one launched during eTwinning Weeks last October. Teachers who register or join an eTwinning project from the 1st of January till the 15th of February 2013 will receive an eTwinning USB pen-drive.  There will also be a lottery with the chance to win a digital photo camera.
  3. eTwinning Desktop and TwinSpace Seminar:  In lieu of the recently registered teachers and projects since this revamp, the eTwinning National Support Service will organise a half day seminar to train teachers in the use of the newly launched Portal, Desktop and TwinSpace tools. This seminar is open to all teaching grades and is recommended for both new and seasoned eTwinners alike. This will be held on Friday 15th of February (in the afternoon).

More information about the above will be circulated in January via the CMeLD Letter Circulars. In the meantime….best wishes from the eTwinning National Support Service! And remember you can get in touch with us via email on etwinning@ilearn.edu.mt.

eTwinning Seminar for SMT – 6.12.12

The eTwinning National Support Service has organised an information session for members of the senior management teams in schools.  Heads of both primary and secondary schools participated in the training.  The eTwinning Ambassadors, Marianne Schembri and Josephine Ebejer Grech, described what eTwinning means to them and explained how they embed eTwinning activities seemlessly onto their curricula. This was followed by examples of their previous project work in practice.

The eTwinning National Support Service would like to advise that we will be organising another seminar for SMT in 2013, this time during school hours and also with the participation of the eTwinning Ambassadors. For more information please contact Amanda or Jacqueline on 25982150, email etwinning@ilearn.edu.mt.

On the 7th December 2012, the Form 3 Biology students of Ms J. Ebejer Grech had a very interesting outing. They went to the Melitensia section of the University of Malta to do research about Lichens as pollutant monitors in the Maltese Islands. They needed this information to share it with other students in Estonia and Lithuania, in an eTwinning project.
