eTwinning National Conference Workshops – Creating Videos with Animoto

During the last few days of the eTwinning National Conference, the students and teachers attending the eTwinning National Awards were asked to take pictures of the stands and edit them using iPads. Thereafter they were asked to create online slide-show videos using Animoto. Teachers learned that they can use Animoto both as an app for iPads, Android and also as a website.

eTwinning National Awards – The Winners of 2013!

On Tuesday the 26th of November, the eTwinning National Support Service, in collaboration with the eLearning Centre – EMBED Awards – held the eTwinning National Awards covering the scholastic year 2012-2013. During the awards ceremony, the eTwinning National Support Service Staff presented certificates to the following teachers:

  • Participants of the Learning Event – eTwinning in the Classroom, presented by eTwinning Ambassador Ms. Marianne Schembri;
  • Winners of National Quality Labels;
  • Winners of European Quality Labels;
  • Winners and runners up of the eTwinning Awards – New eTwinners Catogory;
  • Winners and runners up of the eTwinning Awards – Seasoned eTwinners Category.

eTwinning National Conference and Awards – Weekend Activities

On the weekend of the 23-24 November 2013, the         EMBED – Technology in Education exhibition was open to the general public from 9am-4pm (Saturday and Sunday) at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. The eTwinning Stand was also open and NSS members held activities for both students and teachers on a variety of iPad apps, together with information sessions for teachers interested in registering or joining eTwinning. eTwinnining teachers who had called for assistance at the eTwinning office during the week were also encouraged to visit the eTwinning stand at the weekend so that the eTwinning Support Staff would be able to help them out.

eTwinning National Conference Day 3 – Recording sounds with Soundcloud

On the third day of the eTwinning National Conference, the NSS held workshops for young students and they recorded sounds and interviews with Sondcloud. Soundcloud is available both as a Web 2.0 tool and also as an iPad app. Students used the app version on the iPad to record original interviews with other students and teachers attending EMBED.  All the creations were uploaded on eTwinning Malta’s channel on soundcloud – http://soundcloud.com/etwinningmalta. eTwinning National Conference Day 2 – Using iMotion HD

On the second day of the eTwinning National Conference, the students attending the workshops learned how to create simple stop motion animation videos with a free app for iPads, iMotion HD. Students learned about taking photos in quick succession, onion skins and FPS – frames per second – which changes the speed on the film according to the number of frames in each second. The more photos, the smoother the animation. Below are some examples of the students’ creations.

eTwinning National Conference Workshops Day 1 – Using Instagram

On the first day of the National Awards, the eTwinning National Support Service ran a workshop on Instagram. The tutors, Amanda and Jacqueline, asked the students to imagine themselves as reporters, go around the exhibition stands and take photos of the workshops and activities. The results were uploaded on the eTwinning National Support Service’s Instagram feed (etwinningmalta) and by using the #hashtags #etwinningmalta and #embed13. This is a selection of the students’ photos which they took using iPads and subsequently edited them and uploaded them on Instagram. eTwinning National Conference and Awards 2013

From the 20th  – 27th of November 2013, the eTwinning National Support Service will be holding the National Conference and Awards. This year, the conference will be held in conjuction with EMBED, Best Use of ICT Awards at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. eTwinning is taking part in the national eLearning Conference (Malta) and thus has an informative stand in the exhibition area. Moreover, the eTwinning NSS staff are holding workshops for the students and teachers visiting the stand.
