eTwinning Learning Events - Spring 2010

imageseTwinning Learning Events are short intensive online events on a number of themes. They are led by an expert and include active work and discussion among teachers across Europe.

The idea of a Learning Event is that it is a short intense course that offers you an introduction to a topic, stimulates your ideas, helps develop your skills and does not require a long-term commitment in terms of your time.  It is also designed to be an enjoyable learning experience.

Each learning event lasts 4-5 days of active work and discussion, followed by 4-5 days of reflection and personal work.  The materials are online and you may access them during your own time.

How to participate? The application for each event is open to all registered eTwinning teachers, approximately one week before the event begins. The link is on your Desktop, so just log in to fill in the online form. If you are not yet registered do so now then follow the link on your Desktop.

All events take place in the eTwinning Learning Lab. Continue reading ‘eTwinning Learning Events - Spring 2010′

You will be asked to fill out an application form and a few days before the event begins, you will receive your special login and password to the Learning Lab Area.

One of these learning events will be presented by a Maltese Kindergarten Assistant, Ms. Miriam Schembri, an experienced eTwinner and this year’s eTwinning European Award winner.

eTwinning Summer Course

Two courses are being held this summer entitled eTwinning: Online Collaborative Projects. These courses, among many others, are being organized by the Curriculum Management and eLearning Department and are being held at the eLearning Centre’s labs in Floriana.

The eTwinning course will give a detailed overview of the eTwinning portal and help teaching staff to enrol in this action, find European partners and start off collaborative projects. It will also run through a series of free online applications one can use to make collaborative projects more interesting and innovative.

The course is based on 8 sessions; 6 at the eLearning Centre, and 2 virtual meetings. A course wiki will also be available for participants where they will have each session’s outline and resources including video tutorials, samples and notes. Each session has a number of tasks to practice the applications mentioned during the meeting.

Course certification will be given upon 75% attendance. This includes active participation in at least one of the virtual meetings and participation and collaboration in each session’s tasks.

The first group meets on Wednesdays from 13.30 till 16.30 and started on the 15th July, whilst the second group meets on Mondays from 9.00 to 12.00 and will be starting the first session on the 3rd August. eTwinning evening course 2009

Last week marked the end of the eTwinning evening course 2009. During the last class session on the 23rd March, a virtual closure meeting was organized through FlashMeeting for the 1st April 2009.

FlashMeeting is a free online conferencing application, which allows a group of people to meet from anywhere in the world through an internet connection. The meeting is pre-booked by one of the users and a link, containing a unique password for the meeting, is then passed on to all participants.  For Maltese teachers, to book a FlashMeeting event, send an email to Rose Anne Xerri on roseanne.xerri@gov.mt. It is important to give the following information to book the meeting: school, school telephone number, teacher’s name, date of conference, time and duration of the conference, a title for the conference and the number of participants for the conference.
