eTwinning Back to School Campaign Competition Update

Have you registered an eTwinning project during this scholastic year (September – November 2011) ?  The eTwinning Back to School Competion is drawing to a close!  The first 50 teachers who registered or joined a project between September 2011 – November 2011 will be receiving an eTwinning Desk Clock.  All schools whose teachers have registered or joined a project in this same timeframe will be automatically eligible to take part in  a lottery which will enable them to win a digital video camera (for the school).   By deadline (30th November 2011), projects must have been accepted by the partners and approved by the National Support Service in order to qualify.  Below you can find the updated list as at 21st Novmber 2011:

The eTwinning Carnival Competition winners receive their prizes

This week the National Support Services visited the schools of the winners of this year’s eTwinning Carnival Competition . The winners were presented with their prizes. The prizes for the winners of the first place was a web cam. The second prize was a 2Gb pendrive and the third prize was a USB hub. The teachers of the winning teams were also presented a 4Gb pendrive. All the schools welcomed the National Support Service warmly and a small celebration took place within the classrooms or during assemblies.

Most of the other schools that participated in this competion were also visited by the National Support Service and a small token was given to each participant and their teacher.

eTwinning Carnival Competition for Students

eTwinning Malta is launching a competition for Primary and Secondary School students – Recycling for Carnival – with the main aim of getting students documenting processes using ICT tools.

All participants will receive an eTwinning token and the most creative results in Primary and Secondary categories will be awarded the following items:

• 1st Prize: Webcams
• 2nd Prize: 2Gb Pendrives
• 3rd Prize: USB hubs

  

Competition process and regulations:

  1. Create a Carnival-related float, costume or mask using recycled materials.
  2. Take a number of photos during this process, from the raw materials (which would have been thrown away) till the finished product.
  3. Transfer the photos onto your computer.
  4. Use one of the following presentation software to show this step-by-step process.
  5. The students can work in groups of up to 4 (not a whole class activity) and each school can submit as many presentations as students prepare.
  6. Presentations can be sent to the eTwinning office:
  7. Presentations submitted for evaluation need to have:
    • Name of students (up to 4 students)
    • Age of students
    • College and School Name
    • Name of teacher/s mediating this initiative
  8. Deadline for submissions: Friday 11th March 2011 @ 12.00 noon

eTwinning Back to School Campaign Prize Giving

The eTwinning Back to School Campaign ended at the end of November 2010 and the lottery was drawn during the first week of December to reveal the winners of the digital resources kindly sponsored by IMS Ltd. and Exigy. The eTwinning National Support service visited the winning schools and presented these awards to the Heads of Schools and the participating teachers.

The Easi-View Visualizer was won by San Anton School, Mgarr.

The Easi-Scope Digital Microscope was won by St. Clare College, San Gwann Primary B.

Winners of the eTwinning Back to School Campaign

digital-devices1-150x150We are very pleased to announce that this year we had a record number of 72 projects with Maltese partners from different schools. There were 25 projects registered or joined in the Secondary schools and 47 in the Primary schools. We congratulate ourselves with all these participants and wish them all good luck in their project work. We would also like to inform them that if they need any help or support, they can always contact the eTwinning helpdesk on 25982150 or send us an email at etwinning@schoolnet.gov.mt.
