eTwinning Learning Event for Maltese Teachers: A new 14 day online course

The Maltese eTwinning National Support Service is pleased to launch the online Learning Event, “Web 2.0 Tools for the Classroom”. This fully online course will allow educators to learn at their own pace, follow the video tutorials and work on the tasks in their own time.

What is a Learning Event?

Learning Events are short intensive online events on a number of themes. They are led by an expert and include active work and discussion among teachers.

eTwinning Learning Event for School Leaders

eTwinning is organising an online Learning Event  targeted at School Leaders.  This event is specifically for those who hold a management role in their school as School Head Teacher, Deputy Head or Department Head. It will explore how to introduce eTwinning, how to support teachers in their eTwinning work, and the benefits that eTwinning can bring to your school.

eTwinning Learning Event Presented by a Maltese Ambassador

Ms. Miriam Schembri, one of the eTwinning Ambassador for Malta, will be presenting an online Learning Event about Children’s Rights between the 14th and the 28th of October, 2011.  This Learning Event will explore the topic of Children’s Rights and how they affect classroom practice, and will also discuss approaches to teaching and project work within eTwinning. The number of applicants is limited 120. Applications will open on the the 7th of October, and interested teachers will be able to apply by clicking on the link which will appear on their eTwinning Desktop.

The other side of eTwinning – Learning Event for Maltese teachers

The Maltese eTwinning National Support Service, in collaboration with the Central Support Service in Brussels, is pleased to launch an online Learning Event tailor-made for Maltese teachers. This event will be hosted by Ms. Miriam Schembri, Expert eTwinning teacher and Malta’s Ambassador for eTwinning. The focus of this Learning Event will be the new eTwinning Desktop and online tools.

eTwinning Learning Events are short, intensive online courses on a number of themes. They are led by an expert and include active work and discussion among teachers across Europe. They run entirely online for a duration of two weeks and all active participants will also receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the course.

This learning event, ‘The other side of eTwinning’, is open to new and seasoned eTwinners alike. Participants will be introduced to the social networking and professional development aspect of eTwinning. Whilst getting to know their personal desktop they will be guided on sharing and finding educational resources, joining forums and groups. Getting in touch with other Maltese colleagues will prepare participants to collaborating in the wider network of European community.

The event will run from the 9 – 23 of March, 2011. Interested teachers must log onto the eTwinning website, http://www.etwinning.net and register themselves for eTwinning. Thereafter they will be able to apply for this Learning Event through their eTwinning Desktop by clicking on the link that appears in the ‘News from Malta’ section. No fee is incurred for the participating teachers.

Online Course for teachers

online2Applications are open for next eTwinning Learning Event – Motivating pupils though project work presented by Adam Stepinski. This online course starts on the 29th November till the 10th December and will be in English.This event is ideal for teachers of the Humanities and Foreign Languages. It is suitable for teachers of all pupil age groups. During the course participants will learn about the importance of learner’s autonomy and the ways of stimulating students’ activity while working on an interdisciplinary project. Teachers will also become familiar with key competencies (life-long learning competencies), get to know about the structure and stages of cross-curricular projects and the use of media resources. The number of participants is limited to 100. Certification is given for participation.

If you are not yet registered to eTwinning, go to www.etwinning.net and click on Register now to register to eTwinning and then when you log in to your Desktop, you can also sign up for this online course.

Exploiting Web 2.0; eTwinning and Collaboration – Online Course

learning-eventThe application for next eTwinning Learning Event (online course) is now open. It will take place between the 25th October and the 5th November and will deal with: Exploiting Web 2.0; eTwinning and Collaboration. It will be presented by Tiina Sarisalmi and the language will be English.

In this Learning Event the participants will learn about and try out a few basic Web 2.0 tools that can be used in eTwinning projects. The participants will work together in teams to experience collaborative learning in practice and they will share their feelings and experiences in virtual staffroom to strengthen the feeling of community and reflect upon their own competence for managing online collaboration with pupils. This interactive learning event is suitable for teachers of all disciplines and school levels, for beginners as well as a bit more advanced eTwinners. It requires 1-2 hours work each day. The number of participants is limited to 150.

Multiple Intelligences, a Challenge for eTwinning – Online Course

qwerty1The next eTwinning online course will be held between 16 and 29 October and it will deal with: Multiple intelligences, a challenge for eTwinning. The Learning Event will be presented by Mirjam Heemskerk and it will be held in English.

This event will explore the educational theories of Howard Gardiners on Multiple Intelligences and how it can be taken into account within an eTwinning project. It is suitable for teachers of all disciplines and pupil age groups.
